Manchester United transfer news – Harry Kane is no longer a viable option for Erik ten Hag
The Guardian reports that Manchester United have cut ties over their interest in Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. The club believed the fee Daniel Levy wanted from Tottenham was unrealistic and thus put an end to his pursuit of an England number nine. The Guardian further reports that while Napoli’s Victor Osimhen remains an option, the price for him is also a major hurdle. The latest scudetto winners could demand £130m for Osimhen. Atalanta’s Rasmus Hooglund is also an option in the striker who remains for Manchester United. Harry Kane’s current contract expires next summer, so the Red Devils can always return next year.
Manchester United transfer news – Bayern Munich enter the race for defensive target Kim Min-jae
According to FootMercato, Bayern Munich have launched themselves into the race to sign Napoli’s Kim Min-jae. As reported by The Top Flight, Manchester United are keenly interested in signing the Korean defender, but personal talks have stalled between the player and the club. In addition, contract talks between Min Gay and Napoli have also stalled as the Italian side struggles to remove the release clause from his contract. Bayern are looking at Kim Min-jae as a replacement for the departed Lucas Hernandez, who is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain. United may have to prepare for a bidding war, with Newcastle and Chelsea also watching.
Manchester United transfer news – Ethan Laird’s contract extension option has been activated
The Manchester Evening News [MEN] has revealed that an extension option for Ethan Laird has been exercised. This isn’t exactly revealing news as the defender was out of contract at the end of this month. An extension gives time for the club and player to agree to a new contract and to loan the full-back again. Laird spent last season on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers, and MEN reports Laird is seeking first-team minutes with United. It is also believed that the club would hear Laird’s standing performances should they enter.
